Water Connects Us, Pride Unites Us: MWRD to raise Pride Flag, host community celebration

The MWRD will raise the Pride flag and host a noon program on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Barbara J. McGowan Main Office Building. The flag will also be raised at all seven water reclamation plants.
This year’s theme is “Water Connects Us, Pride Unites Us.” After we raise the Pride flag, a lunch program will feature a keynote address from FEMA Emergency Management Specialist Mary DeBacker (ret.) highlighting the role of resilience and unity. She will be followed by a panel of two local LGBTQ elected officials, including Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden (49th Ward) and Cook County Commissioner Maggie Trevor (9th District) discussing the importance of inclusion and community partnership.
