Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

Chicago’s beloved Venetian Night returns this fall, bringing an evening of music, waterfront dining and illuminated boats to the Chicago Riverwalk. Presented by the Italian American Human Relations Foundation of Chicago (IAHRF), Venetian Night 2026 will celebrate the romance and tradition of Venice while showcasing Chicago’s spectacular riverfront.

Festivities will begin on Saturday, September 12, with a 6:30 p.m. dinner at The Northman Beer & Cider Garden, followed by the Venetian Night Parade of Boats at sundown. As evening arrives, the Chicago River will transform into a sparkling showcase of creativity, with “anything that floats” decorated in dazzling lights as part of the celebration inspired by the beauty of Venice’s canals.

The one-of-a-kind event invites boat owners and guests to become part of the spectacle by registering or renting a boat, with cash prizes of up to $2,000 awarded for the best-decorated vessels. Spectators can also reserve VIP seating, dinner and transportation packages for a memorable view of the festivities.

In addition to the illuminated boat parade, guests can enjoy musical performers strolling along the Riverwalk, a main stage featuring Chicago musicians and singers, and Venetian-inspired costumes that bring a touch of Old World charm to the city’s modern waterfront. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic chairs and baskets or visit nearby riverfront restaurants while enjoying the sights and sounds of the evening. (IAHRF)

This year’s Venetian Night Chicago will be chaired by Kari K. Steele, President and Commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Assisting her will be Michael Fountain, Honorary Consul General of the Bahamas, who will serve as Chairman of International Participation, adding a global dimension to the celebration.

From its Italian-inspired roots to its uniquely Chicago setting, Venetian Night continues to bring together community leaders, families and visitors for a magical evening celebrating culture, creativity and the city’s iconic waterways.
