Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

short graphic of strategic plan

The MWRD’s five-year Strategic Plan was developed to guide the MWRD through 2030. These ambitious goals will yield generations of protection for the region’s prized water resources and the 5.19 million people that the MWRD serves each day.

Having received public comments, the MWRD Board of Commissioners will host a Study Session at 100 E. Erie St., Chicago, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.

The plan focuses on four critical areas that include: (1) wastewater and stormwater management, (2) business resilience, (3) resource development and management and (4) proactive evolution.

Each pillar calls out specific objectives sought during this five-year period, including improvements to the MWRD’s operations and processes, financial agility, and ability to meet new environmental and regulatory requirements.

Your participation is greatly appreciated as we finalize this important plan. Read the MWRD 2026-2030 Strategic Plan Overview to learn about our objectives for the next five years: mwrd.org/what-we-do/strategic-plan.
