Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago

The Blessing of the Waters, celebrating its 20th year, will be held on Sunday, June 28, at 3 p.m., along the Cal-Sag Channel at the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District waterfall, located in Blue Island at Fulton and Chatham streets. This special anniversary ceremony will honor the vital role that clean water plays in sustaining life, supporting ecosystems and connecting communities. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Cal-Sag waterway, the event will offer a moment for reflection, unity and appreciation of natural resources. The event is open to the public and includes music, nature and refreshments. This event is coordinated by Tom Shepherd, a member of the MWRD's Calumet Community Partnership Council.
