MWRD's Internship Program offers both paid and unpaid internship positions. While the main focus is on wastewater management, there are opportunities to gain knowledge and practical experience in a wide range of functions in each department.
Paid interns are limited to 119 working days per calendar year and receive $13.00 per hour. They do not receive benefits or paid days off.
Unpaid interns do not have time restrictions, which provide opportunities to gain additional experience or time to work on a long-range project.
Note: Both paid and unpaid internships may fulfill the requirements for academic credit.
U.S. citizenship or DACA.
Permanent residency in Cook County (students may attend school outside the county limit).
Enrollment in a degree-seeking program in an accredited college or university.
Referral from a school or organization’s Internship Coordinator or class instructor.
Cover letter and resume along with a referral.
