Groundbreaking Ceremony for Battery E at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant
The MWRD will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Battery E project at the O’Brien Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 8.
Key Project Features
• Construction of a new aeration tank battery along with final settling tanks, ancillary structures and supporting equipment;
• Integration of an advanced biological phosphorus removal process to meet the IEPA’s phosphorus discharge permits;
• Battery E will extend plant capacity for another century of service.
The Battery E project will provide critical new infrastructure designed to enhance downstream water quality by significantly reducing phosphorus discharge. The project will take approximately four years to construct. More information can be found on our website.
