"CBA sets annual garden contest," Beverly Review
Beverly Review: The Chicago Bungalow Association (CBA) Bungalow Garden Contest, in its ninth year, celebrates the hard work of bungalow owners across Chicago who beautify their blocks with inspiring home gardens, demonstrating how gardens can enhance a home’s architecture, promote a healthier ecosystem and uplift a community.
All bungalows in Chicago are eligible to enter, whether the bungalow is brick, stucco or wood frame.
The contest categories include Best Curb Appeal Gardening, Best Backyard Oasis, Best Herb and Vegetable Garden, Best Pollinator Garden, and Best Bungalow Window Box.
Winners in each category receive a $500 cash prize, garden award plaque, and will be featured on the CBA website and social media including a garden walk-through video.
Runners-up in each category receive a $250 cash prize and a feature on the website and social media.
Two randomly selected entrants will receive a free rain barrel from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
Again this year, for every eligible garden contest entry the CBA receives, $25 will be donated to South Side and West Side community gardens.
CBA will choose the top submissions in each category to be included on the public online ballot, and the public will vote for the winners online from July 10 to 15.
Winners’ walk-thru videos will be filmed July 18 and 19. Winners will be notified on July 16.
Winners and runners-up will be announced on July 31.
Deadline to enter a garden is Wednesday, July 2.
